KETTLEBELL FOUNDATION WORKSHOP

The foundation kettlebell workshop covers everything you need to start training on your own and progress safely.

Learn the kettlebell swing, Turkish get up and kettlebell clean and press.

The kettlebell exercises will be presented in a safe and effective manner so that they can be practiced at home after attending the workshop.

This workshop is for everyone that wants to experience the many benefits of kettlebell training, become stronger and transform their bodies. No prior kettlebell experience is necessary.

The multi-joint exercises performed in kettlebell training help improve strength, body awareness and the way you move on a day-to-day basis. Other benefits include increased endurance, cardio respiratory fitness, coordination, bone density and lean body mass.

KETTLEBELL FOUNDATION WORKSHOP CONTENTS

KETTLEBELL INSTRUCTOR LEVEL 1

The level 1 Kettlebell Instructor Course is a foundation course, and is essential if you are planning to teach kettlebells, as a private trainer or group instructor.

We concentrate on proper technique of the foundation lifts, how to spot mistakes and how to correct them as fast as possible.
This is not a follow along course. You’ll be actively involved in the teaching process, assessing and correcting each other throughout the day.

LEVEL 1 COURSE CONTENTS

LEVEL 1 CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To participate on an instructor course, previous experience with kettlebells and knowledge of the main exercises (deadlift, squat, swing, clean, press and get up) is required. Come prepared, and do not expect to receive your certificate just for showing up!

There is no testing on the course. You may chose to receive a certificate of attendance or submit an attempt to pass the instructor certificate requirements. You have up to 6 months after completion of the course to send your submission. Late submissions and re-attempts will incur an administrative fee of 400DKK. Certificates of attendance are issued free of charge.

To pass the physical  requirements, you must demonstrate proper technique, and full control over your body and the kettlebells on each of the following exercises:

  • Get up: 1 rep each arm
  • Double swing (2KB): 5 rep front view, 5 rep side view
  • Swing: 10 rep each arm front view, 10 rep each arm side view
  • Clean and press: 5 rep each arm front view, 5 rep each arm side view
  • Double clean and push press (2KB): 5 rep front view, 5 rep side view
  • Double squat (2KB): 5 rep front view, 5 rep side view
  • Reverse lunge with rack hold: 5 rep front view, 5 rep side view – for each leg

Kettlebell sizes for testing

  • The kettlebell(s) must be placed on the floor at the start of every exercise.
  • Women under 58kg use 12kg kettlebells, women over 58kg use 16kg kettlebells.
  • Men under 68kg use 20kg kettlebells, men over 68kg use 24kg kettlebells.

A written exam covering the key points for safety, technique, and basic understanding of training with kettlebells must be passed with at least 85% accuracy.

Your certificate level 1 (Basic Kettlebell Instructor) will be delivered shortly after all requirements are met.

KETTLEBELL LEVEL 2

This workshop is about the 3 traditional competition lifts of Kettlebell Sport: the kettlebell snatch, jerk, and long cycle.

You’ll be shown in depth analysis of techniques and the training methods needed to improve your current Personal Records, regardless you plan to compete or not.

Participants will be involved in the learning and teaching process, by assessing and correcting each others throughout the workshop.

Training for full day with kettlebells, even with light weights, can be tougher than expected. Soft hands must be conditioned by doing lots of swings before hand!

Previous experience with kettlebell swing, clean, push press, jerk and kettlebell snatch, along with reasonable fitness levels are necessary to participate.

A good guideline is you should be able to easily do over 100 kettlebell snatch non stop by changing hands every 10-20 reps with a 12kg kettlebell for women and 20kg for men.

KETTLEBELL SPORT WORKSHOP CONTENTS

  • Full day instruction
  • Instruction is conducted in Danish

  • Avoid bruises and blisters
  • Training principles & methods
  • Specific assistance exercises
  • Program design for fitness or competition

This workshop can be converted to a level 2 instructor certificate if you pass the requirements.

LEVEL 2 CERTIFICATION

Certificates of participation are issued free of charge.

If you already have a level 1 certificate, you may submit an attempt to pass the Level 2 instructor certificate requirements. There is no testing on the course.

You have up to 6 months after completion of the course to send your video submission. Late submissions and each re-attempt will incur an administrative fee of 400DKK.

INDIAN CLUBS WORKSHOP

Swinging clubs for strength has a history dating back more than 4000 years, and has its roots in ancient India and Persia.

This workshop is for any athlete that lift weights overhead but also for people who spend time in front of a computer.

You will learn the basics of Indian club swinging in a simple and systematized approach.
You will discover and experience the invaluable benefits such as: better range of motion and stability from shoulder to wrist, improved back, shoulder and forearm strength, and improved coordination. One key aspect of practice with Indian clubs is the positive effect on the nervous system and helping restitution.

This workshop is open to everyone and only requires moderate levels of fitness. The club swinging  exercises will be presented in a safe and effective manner so that they can be practiced at home after attending the workshop.

Although the weight of the Indian Clubs may be only a pound or two, it isn’t so much the weight, but smoothness of the swing and the rhythm that increases the mobility of the shoulders, elbows and wrists. A few minutes spent in working with the Indian Clubs will more than pay off in great dividends as a recovery exercise.
